I walk through the Ann & Hope (Curtain & Bath Outlet) store on it's final days in business in Warwick, RI

Ann & Hope was a small Cumberland, RI based discount store chain founded by Martin Chase. The name "Ann & Hope" comes from a ship and their first store in in a mill. Ann & Hope ras revolutionary because supposedly they were the first store to use shopping carts, in store cafe's and have a really large parking lot.

Supposedly Sam Walton (Walmart founder) and Sebastian Kresge (Kmart founder) got their idea for a big box door after shopping at Ann & Hope.

Ann & Hope was losing money fast. The Ann & Hope in Warwick & Cumberland RI were converted to an outlet store and downsized. All other stores closed in 2001

As of 2001 the Ann & Hope stores that didn't close were rebranded as "Ann & Hope Curtain & Bath Outlet

At one point the Brooks & Eckerd Pharmacy Headquarters were located in the downsized portion of the Ann & Hope in Warwick

There was 2 Curtain & Bath outlets in RI and 7 in MA and one in CT

In 2020 Ann & Hope Curtain & Bath Outlet closed all of their stores



The Warwick, RI Ann & Hope store (The store that is seen in this video) was the 2nd store to open and one out of the two locations that still used the original building even though the store has been downgraded to an outlet store.

This store opened in 1962 became an outlet store in 2001 and closed in 2020.
