In this Balkan Travel Vlog, we visit a small town in Montenegro that has ~100 people. The reason we visited Grahovo is to see the Spomenik!

What is a Spomenik? Spomeniks (the Serbo-Croatian/Slovenian word for 'monument') are memorials built from the 1950s-1990s during Tito's Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, whose primary intent was to honor its people's resistance struggle during the People's Liberation Struggle (1941-1945) (aka WWII) against Axis occupation and oppression.

Our goal for today was to the Spomenik Monument to Sava Kovačević in Grahovo. ​​Grahovo is a historical settlement in the Nikšić municipality of northwestern Montenegro. This monument located at Grahovo, Montenegro is dedicated to Partisan military commander and war hero Sava Kovačević, who was born near this site 1905. In addition, this site also honors over 270 local Partisans who perished during WWII.
