NOW! NOW! NOW! 2.0
《闹!闹!闹!2.0》

Collaborative work by Pei-Ling Kao (dance) and JunYi Chow (cello)

The term "NOW" in this composition doesn't signify the current time but is a direct translation of the Chinese character "闹" (nào), which means 'noisy' or 'causing disturbance,' among other things. The precursor to this composition aims to investigate the potential of integrating extended cello techniques into improvisational practice, treating the cello as if it were an electric instrument. In version 2.0, a duet with dance, the piece explores even deeper into the concept of active listening between the two performers. Their interaction goes beyond mere interaction or 'disturbance' of each other, instead inviting the audience to sense the "conflict of the moment."
