All State officers in charge of the Kirinyaga County area where 23 people and 20 others went blind after consuming illicit brew have been recalled.
Kindiki said that this includes Senior law enforcement and National Government Enforcement officers who worked and were in charge of Kangai village in Mwea East.
“The Government has recalled senior law enforcement and National Government Administration officers who by conduct or misconduct may have contributed to the recent loss of lives occasioned by the consumption of an illicit toxic brew in Kirinyaga County, Central region,” said Kindiki.
The CS said the transfers are immediate and that investigations into the incident had been launched.
New reports have emerged that the illicit brew that has so far claimed 20 lives in Kirinyaga County was exhibit, that had been stored at Kiamaciri police station.
A police officer, who declined to be named has told Citizen Digital that the killer brew had been stored in the station before four rogue officers sold it out on Sunday night.
“Our four police officers on Sunday night sold exhibits to the owner of the California bar at Ksh. 20,000 where each officer pocketed Ksh. 5000 each. Please don't quote me as nobody can confirm as all senior police officers have been transferred, the source told this publication on Saturday evening.
