1. Sohail Tanveer (Rajasthan Royals)

Sohail Tanveer became the first bowler ever to win the Purple Cap in the IPL with 22 wickets from 11 matches for Rajasthan Royals, which included a four-fer and a fifer.

2. Shahid Afridi (Deccan Chargers)

Afridi, who became the Player of the Tournament at the 2007 T20 World Cup, could not repeat his performance in the inaugural edition of IPL.
Former Pakistan captain represented Deccan Chargers in 10 IPL matches where he scored only 81 runs and claimed 9 wickets.

3. Shoaib Malik (Delhi Daredevils)

Malik's misfortune Delhi's squad was loaded with a string of star overseas players like AB de Villiers, Tilakratne Dilshan, Daniel Vettori, Glenn McGrath.

Malik ended up playing only 7 matches for Delhi Daredevils and scored 52 runs in total.

Misbah went on to play 8 matches, scoring 117 runs at an average of 16.71.

Mohammad Asif was a premium pacer before the off-field controveries brought his career to a permanent closure. Asif played for Delhi Daredevils in the maiden edition of the IPL. Asif represented the Delhi-based franchise in 8 matches.

Salman Butt had been picked by KKR in the first season but he got his chance only after Chris Gayle, Ricky Ponting and Brendon McCullum left for national duty.

Younis Khan was part of IPL's first champion Rajasthan Royals but he had very poor campaign as he got to play only one match for the Rajasthan based franchise.

Younis was benched in the favour of Graeme Smith and younger talent in Shane Watson.

11. Mohammad Hafeez (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Mohammad Hafeez was failed to perform with the bat scoring just 64 runs in the 8 matches he played.

With his off spin, Hafeez bowled a magnificent spell of 4 overs versus Deccan Chargers where he conceded mere 8 runs while also scalping the wicket of Scott Styris.
