The New York Times reports of a monkey shortage. But there's no monkey shortage at U.S. labs. The Times was used by vivisectors looking to get more monkeys.

Dr.Lisa Jones-Engel, PETA Animal consultant and a one-time primatologist with National Primate Research Centers, crunches the numbers and shows that reports of monkey shortages in U.S. labs are exaggerated at best, if not outright lies. Jones-Engel speculates that the centers are taking advantage of a perception that the monkeys have anything major to do with vaccine development. But only 51 monkeys were involved in the development of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Jones-Engel also talks about the real harm to eco-systems when monkeys are taken from Asia and imported to the U.S. because of the billions of dollars involved in the monkey trade.
