Centralised Drying of poultry manure from broiler houses

Описание к видео Centralised Drying of poultry manure from broiler houses

Animation showing a turn-key solution for manure treatment from several poultry farms or barns at one centralised drying plant. Drying provides a commercially attractive method for processing manure from broiler houses, turning waste into value. Because broilers have a 6-7 weeks cycle, the method would be most effective if used with several farms combined to keep the process running with 'fresh' broiler manure permanently. The processed manure can be safely stored, sold as organic fertilizer or fuel for electricity production.

Steps shown in the animation in chronological order:
after the broiler cycle, removal of fresh manure from the broiler house to the dryer
optionally combined with drying of manure from layer chicken farms
in this video a toploader is used to collect the manure and load the manure into the dryer, because a toploader is suitable for truck transport. Other options are possible.
the manure is dried up to 85% DM within 2 days.
the drier has multiple layers
waste heat could be made useful in the drying process, for example waste heat retrieved from a cooling tower at electricity production.
air cleaning is a necessary step in the process to clean the air of ammonia emissions. Dorset is producer and seller of air cleaning equipment.
the dried manure is transported to a bunker at the pelleting plant
the dry manure is dosed before entering the pelletizing press
the pelleting press uses a flat die
the pellets are sanitised by storing them for 1 hour at 70˚. This makes the product exportable.
the heated pellets are soft. A cooler makes them hard en removes some of the remaining moisture.
bagging makes the product ready for sale.

Why would I want to dry fresh poultry manure?
after treatment the manure has significant value as organic fertilizer or fuel
reduction of ammonia emission -
Wet manure creates ammonia emission. Because the system removes the wet manure from the barn daily and dries the manure within two days, ammonia emission is prevented.
reduced odour annoyance -
For the same reasons as the above, the odour production is significantly reduced. Odour production from wet manure or composing manure is a thing of the past with dried manure.
improved hygiene at the farm -
With centralised drying, no more storage of wet manure occurs near the broiler houses, thus improving the hygiene of the farm for the animals, personnel and neighbours.
