What type of abbreviations used in geographic books and what are meaning of these geographical abbreviations and how we can define geographical abbreviations generally. Geographical abbreviations are symbols and short form of the terms which use to reflect a broad definitions. Here are few terms with their definitions

What is Admin or Administrative area?
The smaller sub divisions or areas of a country.

What is b. or bay?
A bay is a recessed, coastal body of water that directly connects to a larger main body of water, such as an ocean, a lake, or even another bay.

What is c. or Cape, point or headland?
A cape is a high point of land that narrowly extends into a body of water.

What is d. or desert?
A desert is a barren area of landscape where little precipitation occurs and, consequently, living conditions are hostile for plant and animal life.

What is est. or estuary?
An estuary is a partially enclosed coastal body of brackish water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it, and with a free connection to the open sea. Estuaries form a transition zone between river environments and maritime environments and are an example of an ecotone.

What is Geog. Region or Geographical Region?
In geography, regions, otherwise referred to as zones, lands or territories, are areas that are broadly divided by physical characteristics, human impact characteristics, and the interaction of humanity and the environment.

What is Hist. or Historical Site?
A historic site or heritage site is an official location where pieces of political, military, cultural, or social history have been preserved due to their cultural heritage value.
