Emotional development or emotional learning starts at a very young age as children discover wide range of emotions, they evolve. Emotional development does not occur in isolation, but it occurs along with cognitive development, the behavioral development along with social development. These are influenced by the cultural factors and sometimes the environmental factors. When a child is emotionally abused, they develop lot of complications like aggressions, extreme emotional outbursts, low self-esteem or these children may lack confidence in themselves or they become overly affectionate to strangers or they may show compromised social skills and problems in emotional skills are also an indication of developmental delays. For example, a child who is not able to smile or not able to express emotions can indicate that they may have developmental delays. Parents should not wait that there is anything wrong with the child or it would get better. They should definitely see a developmental psychologist to get suggestions in improvising the emotional development.
