Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil on Tuesday ended his protest after the Maharashtra government issued a resolution implementing the Hyderabad Gazette, granting Kunbi status to Marathas in the Marathwada region. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured immediate implementation, while other gazettes will follow within a month. The 1918 Hyderabad Gazette, issued by the Nizam government, recognised Marathas as socially and educationally backward and extended reservations. Patil’s key demand of Kunbi certificates for Marathas was accepted, along with withdrawal of protest cases, cash compensation for families of youth who died during agitations, and job offers on compassionate grounds.
