DEVELOPMENT OF SURFACES (Problems for practice)
1) A square prism of base side 40 mm and axis 70 mm is resting on its base on HP with two base edges parallel to VP. A cutting plane 45° to HP cuts the prism passing through a point on the axis which is 40 mm above the base. Draw the development of surface of the cut prism.

2) A cylinder of base diameter 50 mm and axis 65 mm is resting with its base on HP. A cutting plane 40° to HP cuts the cylinder passing through a point on the axis which is 40 mm above the base. Draw the development of the surface for the truncated cylinder.

3) A square pyramid of side 45 mm and height 65 mm stands with its base on HP such that two edges of the base are parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 45° to HP and passing through a point on the axis, 35 mm above the base. Draw the development of the lateral surfaces of the truncated pyramid.

4) A hexagonal pyramid of side 30 mm and height 60 mm rests with its base on HP and two sides of the base are perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 40° to HP bisecting the axis. Draw the sectional top view and develop the lateral surfaces of the truncated pyramid.

5) A cone of base diameter 60 mm and axis 70 mm is resting on HP with its base. It is cut by a section plane 30° to HP bisecting the axis. Draw the development of the surfaces.

6) A cone of base diameter 60 mm and axis 70 mm is resting on HP with its base. It is cut by a section plane inclined to HP and parallel to one of the generators and passing through a point on the axis at 20 mm from the apex. Draw the development of the surfaces and sectional top view.

7) A square pyramid of base side 40 mm and axis 60 mm rests on its base on the ground with one of the sides of the base inclined at 30° to the VP. A string is wound round the surface of the pyramid starting from left extreme point on the base and ending at the same point. Find the shortest length of the string required. Also trace the path of the string in the front view and top views.
