The Crimes of Zeno Clash 2 - Review

Iterative works aren’t a crime within video games, as I have said in the past, and while Zeno Clash 2 is very much an iteration on the first game, with all of the pros and cons that come from that association, there are some things about the sequel that are highly dishonest and burgeon on being creative misdeeds. Ace Team chose to tell the player a lot of things they probably shouldn’t have, they drastically altered the rules of the first game and the setting, and they dared to package it all in a game that demonstrates considerable technical competence and far more love than is warranted for a project like this. The core of Zeno Clash 2 is a fantastic experience, but that core is flanked by rotten appendages that the game would have been undoubtedly better off without. And yet, I still think it’s a worthwhile experience.
