In this part 1 of the Baripada Series I share with you my experiences from Day 1.

Baripada is around 5-6 hours drive from Bhubaneswar and we took a road trip to reach Baripada. After reaching we straight went for lunch and had lunch at :

1. Neel kamal Dhaba: We had mutton pattropoda and desi chicken curry. We also got the opportunity to check out the process of making Pattropoda. Succulent mutton pieces wrapped in sal leaves and roasted on a coal stove.

2. Next we proceeded in the evening to check out the street food and explored the dahi aloo and masala mudhi at Nini Bhai's shop. Located just outside the Jagannath Temple, this is a gem in the street food scene in Baripada. The two snacks are a blast of flavours and totally droolworthy.

3. Next we went to Surendra pakoda shop which is famous for its soya fry and chicken pakoda. The chicken pakoda is Berhampur inspired pakoda and tastes great. The soya fry was a unique street food that I could try in Baripada. Soya Nuggets coated with masalas and deep fried.

4. Al Buriyani: Our last stop was Al Buriyani and the biryani at this place is one of the best in Baripada. Hyderabad inspired biryani was a flavourful biryani with subtle use of spices unlike the true Hyderabadi version. A good try.

5 .We ended the food walk with a glass of Batli Soda.
