Creativity ought to evolve exponentially. Why? Because it largely involves recombination of previous ideas. In other words; the more ideas we already had in the past, the more we can get in the future. However, in reality many societies have seen their creativity bloom, but then die.

When societies get very centralised, their creativity drops dramatically. And afterwards, they crumble or collapse
