READ BELOW FOR STORY: In this video, Silver Creek / Conquest BFS - Jackson Shizuku 62V (BFS Trout Fishing), Hobie-Wan Kenobi uses a new trout minnow to catch brown trout with BFS tackle.

This trip was near the end of inland stream fishing season. I followed a stream up to where a waterfall stops the migration of trout going to spawn. These trout are year round resident fish and although they are not the size of the monsters that migrate from the Great Lakes, they grow to a surprisingly large size for small waters.

When approaching this spot, I scared an eagle that was waiting near the waterfall, assuming to grab trout as they stop to spawn. Seeing that, I knew I was on to some fish.

The trip ended with catching a few decent sized brown trout and a modest sized brook trout. Even with the rain and cold weather, it was still a great time and a trip I will definitely make again. Perhaps I will bring camping gear and hike more of the stream to further explore.

Read below on some of the gear I used:
Reel: Shimano Conquest BFS (8.1 gear ratio mod)
Rod: Daiwa Silver Creek Glass Progressive (promo code 9J7 for Digitaka)
Lure: Jackson Shizuku 62V https://baitfinesseempire.com/product...
Waders: Simms G3 Riparian Camo https://www.simmsfishing.com/products...
Rain Jacket: Simms Flyweight Access Shell Jacket

Silver Creek Glass Progressive:
My findings led me to want to use monofilament line instead of braided line with the Silver Creek Glass Progressive. The rod is quite versatile but for small fish like brook trout, it would not be ideal for. There is a 48UL version that would be better suited for smaller fish.

I also took the Daiwa Silver Creek Glass Progressive out on a lake to catch bass and bluegill. The rod can handle a wide variety of fish and was surprisingly sensitive. There was adequate power on the hookset and controlling fish was easy, yet enjoyable.

The Daiwa Silver Creek Glass Progressive 51LB-G is a new BFS rod from Daiwa Japan. The Silver Creek Glass progressive has a taper fast enough to twitch minnow style lures and still have flex when a fish hits your lure, This versatile blank should be a great option for water that have a variety of sized fish.

BLANK: Blank is made of 33% carbon and 67% ultra high density fiberglass. A mix of carbon and fiberglass for a rod blank is called composite. This composite material is supposed to combine the deep flex and smoothness of fiberglass and the lightweight, responsiveness and sensitivity of carbon. The action of the Silver Creek 51LB-G is faster than other fiberglass blanks but, still has a "progressive" deep taper as force is applied. This should increase accuracy and twitching of minnow style lures.

REEL SEAT: Daiwa used a traditional wood/metal reel seat for a contemporary look. Unlike most reel seats in this class, Daiwa used a modern tapered trigger to increase comfort and functionality of the reel seat.

From Jackson Website:
"These days most minnows employ a low center of gravity to create stability. However the Shizuku 62V was designed for speed, as speed is a key to entice the strike. The Shizuku has a strong darting action when twitched and at speed can move through obstructions creating noise and vibration tempting fish to strike. Its weight balance is crucial to its swimming action and has been designed to specific specifications to obtain the required action, while being conscious to keep its tight action using its coffin shaped lip. Its body is constructed with flat surfaces, which creates various angles to reflect light and flash when retrieved and with its slim baitfish profile body it attracts a wide variety of fish species."
