Cloudlifter CL-1 Review

Here I review the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 in-line mic-booster. I love the idea but don’t find that the price justifies what it does.

I tested it with the Shure SM7B, the Shure SM57, and the Shure SM58. Yes, all Shure mics, but also all dynamic mics which can benefit from an in-line preamp.

If you listen closely during the tests (headphones recommended), you’ll hear the noise floor get louder when I’ve engaged the Cloudlifter.
