A day of churches – 04 – Un día de iglesias

St Mary’s at Seavington St Mary
St Mary's is built of Ham stone with a battlemented tower. Originally thirteenth century, it was considerably enlarged in the fifteenth century and further altered in the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. The oldest feature is a circular Norman font. Traces of Medieval wall paintings have recently been discovered.
It is a redundant church in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Sta Maria está construida en piedra de Ham con una torre almenada. Originalmente del siglo XIII, fue ampliada considerablemente en el siglo XV y modificada en los siglos XVI y XIX. El elemento más antiguo es una pila bautismal circular normanda. Recientemente se han descubierto restos de pinturas murales medievales.
Se trata de una iglesia en desuso bajo la custodia del Churches Conservation Trust (Fundación para la Conservación de Iglesias).
