Eriez Flotation HydroFloat® Coarse Particle Flotation - South American Copper Project (Fabrication)

To meet society’s needs for critical mineral resources, the mining industry must develop projects that are socially accepted, environmentally sustainable, and economically profitable. One of the processes that have highest potential to overcome some of these challenges is Coarse Particle Flotation (CPF). The CPF process has been an area of great interest of the mining industry for many years due to the innumerable benefits it can provide for the development of more profitable and more sustainable projects. However, due to the limitations inherent in the design and operation of the conventional flotation technologies, it has not been possible to recover coarse particles; in practice it has been seen that it is inefficient to recover particles greater than 150 µm using conventional flotation equipment. To overcome the shortcomings of conventional cells, a novel device known as the HydroFloat CPF flotation cell was developed and patented by Eriez. Using the HydroFloat technology, industry has been able to float and recover efficiently +2x coarser particles in comparison than conventional flotation technologies.

Eriez recently fabricated the largest CPF project in the world for a major South American copper greenfield project. Watch Eriez build and assemble this impressive equipment, which will create new possibilities for this mining company to meet their environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) goals by improving efficiency and enabling better use of resources.
