ROCKLAND, MAINE — After being the victim of five home invasions over the course of six years, homeowner Harvey Lembo, 67, bought a gun and used it the same day when a thief broke into his house and tried to steal his medication.

In an interview with CBS 13, Lembo said: "I had the gun under my pillow. I reached out and I cocked it. And I got in my wheelchair."

"This is the fifth time I've been robbed. And it's all been about drugs. I'm tired of it. So I went and bought a gun."

"I screamed at him to stop. And I told him to go sit on the coffee table or I'd blow his brains out. I still had the gun in my hand. And I'm trying to dial 911 with the gun in my hand."

Lembo said the thief, identified by police as Christopher Wildhaber, 45, "tried to run out the back door."

He opened fire, hitting Wildhaber in the shoulder before the would-be thief escaped out the backdoor. Police managed to follow the trail of blood an apprehend Wildhaber, who reportedly put up a struggle. Wildhaber was put in jail after being treated for his gunshot wounds. The district attorney still has to decide if the use of lethal force was justified, or if Lembo will face jail time as well, according to CBS 13.
