This is a re-imagining and re-edit of scene 38 from Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope. Obi-Wan (Ben) Kenobi faces Darth Vader one final time in a dual that is much more intense and emotional than the original 1977 version.

The team at FixItInPost did a PHENOMENAL job recreating this dual with updated visual effects and choreography. Honestly, I always felt that this dual was one of the weakest points of Episode 4 (especially after the excitement and emotion of the dual between Anakin and Obi-Wan in Episode 3). The Episode 4 dual always left me a little board, and as a fan, I hated feeling that way about a lightsaber dual, especially between legends like Obi-Wan and Darth Vader.

When I discovered the Scene38 recreation by FixItInPost, I was blown away. They created a dual exactly like I had imagined that it always should have been. I decided that I wanted to make my own, custom version of Episode 4 and replace the original dual, because the new FixItInPost version was so much better.

Unfortunately, the FixItInPost dual does not work in the context of the original movie. There are several scenes that are shifted around or missing that cause some major continuity errors if anyone were to try watch the FixItInPost version in the context of the original film. They made some very clever and creative decisions! Unfortunately, it just doesn't properly work to truly "replace" the original 1977 dual.

However, I decided that this new dual actually HAD to work in the context of the full film, so I took the original version apart, as well as the new footage from FixItInPost, and created an all-new version that DOES work in the context of the original movie!

This took over 12 hours to edit and put together. In addition to re-arranging shots, I also had to manipulate the music and sound effects heavily in order to make this work seamlessly.

Soon I'll be releasing content about how this was made and how, you can incorporate this re-edited scene into your own personal copy of the original film if you wish.

This was a very fun project to work on, and this inspired me to make some other small tweaks to others scenes in A New Hope as well to fix a few issues! I'll be releasing more scenes soon.
