On January 7, 2026, an ICE officer fatally shot a 37-year-old woman, Renee Nicole Good, during an immigration enforcement operation in south Minneapolis. Federal officials claimed the agent fired in self-defense, saying the woman “weaponized her vehicle” against officers. Local leaders and witnesses strongly dispute that narrative, and video footage has ignited widespread protests and outrage across Minnesota and the country.
