Marriage During Midlife

Award-winning photographer, author and speaker, Dorothy Greco, addresses midlife issues in which she shares lessons learned as she has navigated marriage with her husband Christopher.

Perhaps you know or work with couples that are feeling the pull of midlife. Whether it’s an empty nest or taking care of aging parents, these situations can cause a midlife couple to pause and take inventory of their lives and the state of their marriage.

Maybe the couples you work with have discovered that midlife issues have led to disappointments and unrealistic expectations in their marriage.

Dorothy and Christopher discovered that while they were working to be responsive to the needs of their spouse — becoming better partners, friends, and lovers — each only had the power and authority to change themselves.

“Rather than hoping our spouse changes we need to focus on how God is asking us to change and grow,” Dorothy said.

“Whether the couples you work with might be hitting their stride or wondering if they’re going to make it, without a stable foundation and the charity and grace they need to give each other, it can get really tough.”

A graduate of Boston University, Dorothy’s works have been published in Christianity Today, Mission Alliance, MOPs, and Patheos, among others. Photography credits include The National Geographic, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. She has won awards from Communication Arts Photography Annual and National Press Photographers. She and her husband, Christopher, have been married for 33 years and present at marriage seminars together.
