President Hakainde Hichilema says the Government is working on establishing a hub that will provide specialist health treatment.

President Hichilema says the Government is currently working on bringing one of the top Indian Health service providers to assist the country in establishing the hub.

He says an institution has already been identified and that the Government is now at the stage of moving the initiative forward.

President Hichilema says for many years now, Zambia has been seeking specialist treatment for its patients in India and that many of the patients have come back healthier after receiving treatment.

President Hichilema has however noted that sometimes patients sent to India for specialised treatment have failed to make it due to distance and other logistical constraints.

The President said this when Indian High Commissioner to Zambia, Alok Ranjan Jha paid a courtesy call on him at State House today.

And Mr. JHA said India appreciates each linkage established between the two countries since the pre-independence era and that there are more areas of cooperation that can be explored.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs And International Relations Minister Mulambo Haimbe said engagements have been held between Zambia and India, including the Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation.

Mr. Haimbe said this demonstrates that the relationship between the two countries is growing from strength to strength.
