San Miguel de Allende is one of the most popular destinations in Mexico, both for travellers as well as for those seeking to retire in Mexico. February 28, 2014 was my first day in San Miguel and I decided to explore the town by joining a sightseeing tour in a trolley. We rode all through town and visited an area where women still wash clothes manually at a public laundry area to this day. After the tour I went on an ATV ride with a local tourism expert to go on a San Miguel hotel tour. We visited the Rosewood San Miguel, Casa Misha, Hotel Nena, Hotel Matilda and L’Hotel, some of the city’s most luxurious hotels. http://www.travelandtransitions.com/o...

In the evening I watched the live music and festivities on the main square, the Jardín Principal, and was fascinated by the “mojigangas”, grotesque tall puppet-like figures that dance into the audience.
