Centrifugal Pumps: Parallel Pump Operation – Do it Right. Or else?

Описание к видео Centrifugal Pumps: Parallel Pump Operation – Do it Right. Or else?

This video is on “Centrifugal Pumps: Parallel Pump Operation – Do it Right. Or else?” The target audience for this course is working chemical and process engineers.

Centrifugal pumps may be arranged in parallel or in series depending on the process requirements. Pumps are installed in parallel when the user wants to improve the reliability of the pumping system. When a single pump for the full capacity is selected and installed, there is likelihood of the plant operation to come to halt when the pump fails. To avoid any disturbance to the plant operation, it is general practice to install two smaller pumps in parallel instead of one large pump. This also provide the flexibility to match the flows to plant load. Two pumps in parallel running can handle a range of flows at higher efficiency than a single pump.

The video focuses on specific applications for parallel pumps operation and how to select pumps for parallel running and what will be the consequence of wrong selection of pumps and what are the precautions that need to be taken during operation. Watch the video to know more.
