October 21, 2015: Political parties react to minister Nene's mid term budget

Delivering his 2015 Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) in Parliament on Wednesday, the Minister of Finance, Nhalnhla Nene, says the economy will grow at about 1.5 % this year, and rising marginally to 1.7% in 2016.

ACDP spokesperson for Finance, Steve Swart MP, acknowledged that while the Minister had very little fiscal room to move, there were high levels of dissatisfaction, particularly given the events of the day, where protesting students breached security gates and stormed the parliamentary grounds. He implored South Africans to pray for the situation at Parliament and was concerned that the Minister of Finance had not adequately addressed the situation.
