Germany is Europe's largest market for flowers. And everyone wants a piece of the action. The majority of the blooms are still delivered from Holland, but German growers are hard on their heels.

Kleve lies right on the Dutch border, where one greenhouse stands right next to the other. Ten percent of all the ornamental plants in Germany are grown here. The Germans are giving the world's flower growers, the Dutch, a serious run for their money. Take Landgard. The co-operative society of 3000 garden companies turns over more than 800 million euros a year. Our reporter Marion Hütter visits one member, Christian Wans, whose company grows 4 million roses a year and sells them at the wholesale market in Straelen-Herongen.
