Direct Drilling of Seed at Seaton Sluice. September 2024.

Описание к видео Direct Drilling of Seed at Seaton Sluice. September 2024.

This video shows a new crop being planted using a direct drilling method. Historically, once a crop was harvested, the land would be ploughed.
This method of crop planting avoids the need to plough. Air is used for blowing seeds down pipes at metered intervals and into metal tubes that place the seed at the correct depth in the soil.

The field is managed by Gloucester Lodge Farm, a farm located along the dunes at Blyth Beach, half way between Seaton Sluice and Blyth in Northumberland.
