Coverage of a “Drag Queen Story Hour for 6 and under” at a tax funded public library in San Lorenzo, CA that also turned into a first amendment audit on Sunday, June 11th 2023 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Library staff and contracted security attempted to violate countless individuals rights by denying entry into the publicly accessible library, as well as telling people they “can’t record/take pictures”. Myself, and the Alameda Sheriff Dept had to educate those public servants on the first amendment. Cops did great overall and didn’t violate anyone’s right to record or peacefully protest on public property. The Alameda county libraries still have an unconstitutional policy that prohibits recording/photography. Shout out to Alameda sherif Deputy Hadidian (Badge #2449) for his professionalism. Library staff failed abysmally.
