Enjoy the Strand
The Strand is a 2.2-kilometre beachfront promenade with bike and walking paths, safe swimming beaches, picturesque picnic spots, playgrounds, a water park, cafes and restaurants. Enjoy the free Water Park with slides, splash zones and a giant bucket or take a refreshing swim in the Rockpool and enjoy the stunning views of Magnetic Island.

See the Views from Castle Hill
Castle Hill is 261 metres above sea level, and you can hike or drive up to see the incredible 360-degree panoramic views. There are several lookouts and short walks at the top with stunning views across Townsville City and The Strand. Facilities include car parking, public toilets, drinking fountains & seating areas.

Day Trip to Magnetic Island
Hop on a ferry and head to Magnetic Island, 8 kilometres off the coast of Townsville. Magnetic Island is a relaxing tropical paradise, with pristine beaches, fascinating shipwrecks, scenic hiking trails, wild koalas and wallabies.

Visit the Museum of Tropical Queensland
The Museum of Tropical Queensland is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It showcases natural and cultural history, with exhibits ranging from historic dinosaurs and ancient marine life to shipwrecks, the Great Barrier Reef and Tropical Rainforests. There is also a Science Centre with fun, hands-on, interactive activities.

Explore Kissing Point
Kissing Point is a beautiful and historic location on the headland of the Strand. It has several historic landmarks, including the Kissing Point Fort, which was built in the late 1800s and played an important role in defending the city during World War II. It has several lookouts with stunning views over The Strand and Magnetic Island.

Hervey Range Tea Rooms
Drive to the top of Hervey's Range and enjoy morning tea or lunch at the Heritage Tea Rooms. This is North Queensland’s oldest heritage-listed building and was originally the Eureka Hotel, built in 1865. There is also a short walk around the property where you may see some local wildlife and birds.

Wander around the City
Take a leisurely walk around Townsville, crossing over the picturesque Ross River on the Victoria Bridge to reach Central Park, where you can see the iconic Townsville sign. Wander through the City and explore stunning heritage buildings.

Explore Amazing Gardens
Queens Gardens have been around since 1870 and are Townsville's oldest botanic gardens. These heritage-listed gardens are a stunning oasis with lush greenery, flowering plants, and a fun hedge maze. Also, visit Anderson Gardens and the Palmetum.
