Four Syrian security personnel were killed on Monday after ISIS (Daesh) militants launched an attack on a security checkpoint west of Raqqa in northeastern Syria, according to the Interior Ministry. In an official statement, the ministry said the checkpoint — operated by Internal Security Forces — came under a terrorist assault, leaving four officers dead and two others wounded. Security forces reportedly responded to the attack, neutralizing one ISIS member. Authorities said operations are still ongoing in the surrounding area as forces continue search efforts to track down and eliminate any remaining militants. The incident underscores the persistent threat posed by ISIS cells in parts of Syria, particularly in and around Raqqa — once the group’s self-declared capital.
