“I think some people do what they love for work, and others do what they have to so they can do what they love when they're not working. And neither is more noble.”






Simone Stolzoff’s TED Talk, How to Reclaim Your Life from Work, reinforced this. Work is just one part of a fulfilling life. To build a well-rounded identity, Stolzoff suggests:






1️⃣ Create Time Sanctuaries – Set aside moments where work does not define you.
2️⃣ Fill Them with Meaning – Nurture other parts of yourself—friend, learner, artist.
3️⃣ Find Communities Beyond Work – Surround yourself with people who value you for more than your job.






You can be a kind friend, a creative thinker, a passionate learner, and so much more. Your job will be one chapter in your story, but it is not the whole book. And as you step into the years ahead, remember that reclaiming your life from work is not about rejecting hard work or ambition. It is about making space for the many parts of yourself to grow.
