Oops! I made a video about the pedestrian and cycling infrastructure on Dresden Drive, where a lot of mixed-use density has been built in recent years. In trying to highlight the blinking crosswalks, I end up capturing two cars that zoomed through while the lights are blinking and I was on the road.

I think part of the problem that produces this driver behavior is the wide lanes and car-centric surroundings. Even though a lot of the hallmarks of walkable places are present on this strip of Dresden, drivers are probably used to zooming around every other part of Brookhaven without looking for pedestrians. And the wide car lanes here only encourage those speeds.

Narrowing those car lanes while adding a buffer to the bike lane might help. But the main source of change will need to come from outside Dresden drive. A little island of urbanism isn't enough. The change has to be larger to affect the culture.
