New Strategies to Optimize Aviation Learning and Training

This 20-minute case study covers how and why we sought to best manage the supply and demand of personnel and training resources, and improve training development as per the rules of United's Pilot Agreement (UPA) and Advanced Qualification Program (AQP). Our story includes how we came to choose automation and Britannica Knowledge Systems' Fox Training Management System as the path forward in reducing costs and improving processes throughout the training delivery arena. We discovered we could improve the process of scheduling large number of training events, optimize the use of training resources (instructors, evaluators, simulators, classrooms), and reduce the cost of training program development and execution and operational recovery challenges. We found that training management optimization also could extend to developing, maintaining and improving blended learning, simulation, mobile evaluations, eLearning, curriculum and data for qualifications as per United's AQP. We could enrich our ability to track and report on not only classroom training but also the operational evaluation portion of training. Since we also manage training services sold to external customers, we set out to automate how both internal and external customers integrate with various solutions that provide functionality for recordkeeping, reporting and certification issuance. The story also encompasses details on end-user experience enhancements through personalized mobile views, notifications, learning portals, and dashboards.
