Hi guys, I found the issue to my shifting issue on my 2011 vw Jetta 5 speed manual trans.
Steps.

1: remove battery, radiator hose to motor, battery support.
2, remove the 13mm nut on top of the swing arm of the shift gear selector
3: use penetrating oil and spray on top of the arm or take the arm off and spray down into the stud that will seep into the cylinder.
4: wait a couple minutes and see if this will free up the clutch
5: repeat until it works. The longer you let the oil work the easier it will be to free up the rust. I’m t shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes

If this doesn’t work then I would suggest getting an actual mechanic to diagnose your problem :)
