Akali Dal raised allegations of Punjab Congress playing politics over the Dalit Card. Akali Dal leader Manjinder Sirsa has said that, the Gandhi family has insulted the Dalits all over the country. Charanjit Singh Channi took oath as the new Chief Minister of Punjab at the Raj Bhavan. Former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh reportedly did not arrive at the oath taking ceremony. Channi had arrived at Raj Bhavan with Punjab Pradesh Party Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat. He is the 16th Chief Minister of the state. On Sunday, Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat, had said that Channi was unanimously selected as the new CM.

This comes after the resignation of Captain Amarinder Singh, on Saturday. Reportedly, this followed after the conflict present amid the party members. Earlier, Singh had said that he will leave the party if he will be removed from the CM post. He had also called for a meet with his loyalists, but party President Sonia Gandhi had ordered the members not to attend the same.
