Guyana: Mystic opens up about his battle with depression

Описание к видео Guyana: Mystic opens up about his battle with depression

Mystic gained fame in recent years for his hit chutney tune “Coolie Bai” even though it’s reggae that’s in his blood. Music is his life. But what many don’t know is that music has been his escape from something that he is opening up about for the first time – his battle with anxiety and depression, which has triggered suicidal thoughts. He was born Romel Nermal in Black Bush Polder, known as the suicidal capital of Guyana and has decided to speak out about his battle with mental health in hopes that it could help others to seek help. He spoke with the News Room’s Neil Marks at a community centre ground in Skeldon, Berbice.

(If you need someone to talk to or if you know anyone who is in need of immediate assistance, please call the Suicide Prevention Hotline on 223-0001, 223-0009, 600-7896, 623-4444 to speak with a professional counsellor.)
