🎉About the event
The virtual event aims to officially launch the English version of the Youth Summary of the Global Waste Management Outlook 2024 (GWMO). This event will provide a platform to showcase youth actions and leadership in waste management, raise awareness about the waste pollution crisis, and draw inspiration for actionable solutions. As part of the event, there will be a panel discussion titled “Youth Actions for Sustainable Solutions to Beat Waste Pollution”

This panel will feature 4-5 youth representatives who will share their insights and experiences in driving technological and innovative solutions to combat waste pollution. Aligned with the theme of International Youth Day (IYD) 12th of August 2024, which celebrates the transformative power of digitalization in achieving sustainable development, this event will highlight the essential role of young people in addressing global challenges through innovative approaches.

📕About the Global Waste Management Outlook 2024
GWMO is a response to UNEP Resolutions 2/7 and UNEP/EA.4/RES.7, offering an updated assessment of global waste management. Jointly published with the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), the report provides an analysis of municipal solid waste management data, explores different waste management scenarios, and evaluates their impacts on society, the environment, and the economy. The report offers guidance and suggested actions for various stakeholders, including multinational development banks, national governments, municipalities, private sector, and citizens including young people.

The Youth Summary of the Global Waste Management Outlook 2024 aims to build the capacity and understanding of young people by providing comprehensive insights into the waste pollution crisis, its potential solutions, and the dire scenarios if no action is taken. By empowering youth with the knowledge and tools to address waste management challenges, we can harness their energy, creativity, and commitment to drive transformative change and secure a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
