During the Fall of Numenor, Sauron lost both his physical form and his fair form, returning to Mordor as a dark spirit. So, was the One Ring with him at this time? If it was, what happened to the Ring as Numenor sank and Sauron lost his body? How did Sauron manage to reclaim it later?
