Join us as we give you full tour and honest review of Caerfai Bay Caravan and Tent park.
Located in Pembrokeshire in South Wales, this holiday park is situated in the ideal location for ramblers and others that love walking as it is situated on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
We stayed here for 7 nights in August 22.
So is the park any good?
Can you keep yourself occupied if you stay here?
And would we return?
Firstly we can tell you that this is an amazing location. 300 metres away from the beautiful Caerfai Bay beach. A stunning little cover that is ideal for those wanting to paddle swim or even body board.
The site itself does have everything you want from a campsite, great serviced grass hard and grass pitches. In addition to pitches for touring caravans and tents it also has a selection of static homes for hire.
The facilities cater for all, with wetsuit washing areas, 2 shower and toilet blocks, one at the entrance of the park and one approximately mid way. We found ourselves using the ones situated in the middle of the park as that was our closest. As well as ladies and gents showers it also has the bonus of 4 family shower rooms, which we found to be ideal for us. Although please note that it is quite a big park and on a couple of occasions (as it was peak season and busy) we did find ourselves waiting on the odd couple of occasions to use the facilities.
The site itself does not have a shop, but immediately outside the park you have a great little farm shop. This sells pastries, coffee, milk and basic supplies.
For additional needs there is a small supermarket about 1.5 miles away on the small city of St Davids.
One thing we did find was it was quite a dark campsite at night, so if you are staying, ensure you take a good torch or flashlight.
The pitches are spread out well around the outskirts of the fields leaving adequate space for kids to play football or other games. Which is good as we have been to others sites that did not allow ball games, so we did not end up with bored children.
If you do not mind the very narrow road that leads down to the site, you will find though that this is an ideal base for visiting a seeing Pembrokeshire. This was our first trip to this part of the country and we can truthfully say it will not be our last.
If you are visiting this part of the part of the country we can recommend visiting the following places:-
- St Davids - The smallest city in the UK, with a population of approx. 1,600! But it does have a selection of great pubs, one small supermarket other independent boutiques and the stunning St Davids Cathedral, which is worth a visit. We do advise that you book in advance though if you ware wanting to dine out as there appeared to be more tourists there than population!.
- Whitesands - If you want a beautiful sandy beach which is great for bodyboarding, then this is a must. It is about a 10 minute drive from Caerfai Bay site.
- Blue Lagoon - A stunning unusual lagoon that occupies an old slate mine on the coast. It has hosted the Red bull diving championships in the past. It is deep and cold, but has some great diving points.
- New Gale Beach - Not only great for bodyboarders but also for surfers. This is about a 10 minute drive.
- Solva - A stunning little estuary filled with fishing boats and yachts. It has a couple of great little pubs in the car park and it is also a lovely walk when the tide is out and has a great little wet sand beach at the mouth of the estuary
- Oakwood Theme Park - For those wanting to occupy teenagers or older children this is a great theme park. Filled with 33 rides ranging from rollercoasters to water rides. Some of which are not for the feint hearted. You can find our review of Oakwood Theme Park here -    • Oakwood Theme Park | Full Tour & Revi...  .
We do advise you book up as early as possible if you want to visit the prices are far cheaper if you can give a few days notice.

So would we visit Caerfai Bay Caravan and Tent park again in the future? Yes we would. Although we have been to parks with cleaner facilities, these were not as shabby as some have stated on reviews. If nothing else the location more than made up for any issues that we did find.
