Radiant Cut Diamond Tutorial: Lauren B Diamond Education

Описание к видео Radiant Cut Diamond Tutorial: Lauren B Diamond Education

Today's Diamonds 101 Tutorial is about Radiant Cuts. Radiant cut diamonds have become a popular diamond shape for an engagement ring center-stone in 2019 however choosing the perfect one can be tricky. There are various types of elongated radiant cuts with different faceting patterns. These faceting patterns can have a large impact on how the diamond looks face-up. At Lauren B we specialize in a brilliant style radiant cut which is rarer and more expensive but offers but much better value.

First video is a side by side comparison of two radiant cut diamonds of equal carat weight and similar color/clarity; however that is where the comparisons end. The G color/VS2 clarity stone on the right is from our special stock, and is a specially cut radiant that will maximize face-up appearance and also distribute sparkle evenly throughout the stone. This diamond measures 8.8 x 6.4 millimeters, dwarfing the competitor's G color/VVS2 clarity stone (something you would probably find on many online websites) which comes in at 7.9 x 6.3. How is that possible you might ask since they both weight 2 carats? Take a look at the profile view and you will see how the stone on the left is heavier and has more faceting underneath which is done to preserve carat weight and will give it a "lumpier" appearance. The diamond to the right is cut very precisely underneath as to not hide any weight and make sure that the surface area on top shows to its fullest extent.
Second video shows the poorly cut G color/VVS2 stone by itself so you can clearly see how inferior the sparkle is. In addition, there are obvious windows in this stone where light leaks out and causes a dull appearance; something you want to always avoid in a diamond
Finally, the third video is our stone by itself and you can clearly see how the stone is covered in sparkle across all areas of its surface. These types of radiant cuts are definitely more difficult to find and there may be a slight pricing premium to pay for them but it is well worth it.
These two diamonds would be relatively similar in price. At first glance you might even opt for the stone on the left because it has a higher clarity grade at VVS but you would be sadly mistaken. The stone on the right from #LaurenB is superior in all facets and these are the type of radiant cut diamond we carry in our collection. We have all sizes starting at .75 carats all the way up to 4 carats across various color and clarity combinations so inquire to find the right radiant!
