Kalina Silverman was a normal freshman experiences the struggles of freshman year of college. She seemed to have a ton of friends and was meeting a bunch of people, yet she often felt lonely and disconnected from those around her. For her journalism class project at the end of the year, she decided to do her paper on the freshman year struggle. To her surprise, when posting in the class Facebook group asking if people wanting to share their struggles, hundreds of people responded. Kalina started to have very deep conversations with these people and started feeling extremely connected with others. She realized she wasn't alone in her struggle. Then the idea for Big Talk hit her - skipping the small talk and going straight to the important conversations of life. With this idea, she has lead workshops around the world for Fortune 500 companies, military veterans, schools, and more. She has a done a 12 month Fulbright research experiment in Singapore to see how Big Talk can help easy cultural differences.
