In order to get the diagonals looking proper you will need to go into Tab/Input (This Machine) and set up Player 2's Up, Down, Left, and Right directions as your Player 1 Diagonal Directions (otherwise you will see mixed animations on the diagonals).

Set up your P1 buttons normally, then for P2 buttons
Here is how it should look:

P2 Up assign as your Down+Right
P2 Down assign as your Down+Left
P2 Left assign as your Up+Left
P2 Right assign as your Up+Right

So if you click on P2 Up and then press Down+Right on your joystick or Dpad to assign that diagonal input as your P2 Up, then you will have a smooth Down+Right Diagonal animation. Otherwise you'll still see the down and right joystick animations along with the down|+right animation, assigning the diagonal animations to an unused input removes extra animations.

Likewise, if you click on P2 Down and assign your Down+Left on your joystick or Dpad as P2 Down then you'll have a smooth Down+Left diagonal animation, and so on and so forth.

Unfortunately this is the only workaround I know of at this time for smooth diagonal animations. Obviously you can't use 2 Player side without losing the smooth diagonal animations. If I discover a better workaround, I'll update these instructions.

For the Mortal Kombat animated cabinet bezel:
Follow the link, then at the top you'll see "My Drive/Animated MK Cabinet/mk" "mk" will be in bold text and there should be a little arrow to the right of that text, click it for a drop down window with the option to download. Once it's downloaded, extract it to your Artwork folder in Mame.
