For those of you who have seen my recent uploads, you may already know what this is. I've now uploaded all previously lost "full mannequins" ads on my channel and put them in a playlist with the two that were already online, so now I'm going to start uploading all of the "partial mannequins" ads (i.e. only feature the mannequins for no more than five seconds) that I've found.

For those who aren't familiar, in 2004, the May Department Store Company began running a unique ad campaign with commercials where mannequins inside a department store would come to life while keeping out of sight of employees. Additionally, many ads for current or upcoming sales would feature very short scenes of these animated mannequins, usually at their beginning.

Despite how memorable this ad campaign was, very little has surfaced from it online. Part of the problem with archiving these has been that in 2004, May Co. owned eleven different regional chains of department stores, the aforementioned Famous-Barr and L.S. Ayres being two of them. Though it has yet to be one hundred percent confirmed, based on this ad having variants for both of those chains as well as other May Co. ad campaigns from adjacent years it seems overwhelmingly likely that each ad in this campaign had variants for each chain, with the exception of Lord & Taylor (which will be explained shortly).

Though it's been scarcely documented online, one of the few pieces that survives is an article from Women's Wear Daily from 9 June 2004. I can't link it here due to Youtube's verification rules, but its title is "May's Mannequin Move" and can currently be easily found via Google. In it, we find that these ads were not just aired on TV, but also played on in-store TVs as part of a display setup. It's also mentioned that these setups were in every chain except Lord & Taylor, so it can be assumed that mannequin ads were broadcast for all of the other ten chains: Famous-Barr, Filene's, Foley's, Hecht's, The Jones Store, Kaufmann's, L.S. Ayres, Meier & Frank, Robinsons-May, and Strawbridge's.

I've been tracking down everything I can find from this for the past few months, scouring through ad breaks from 2004, with a handful of "partial mannequins" turning up. I'm currently uploading all the ones I've found in roughly chronological order, with the three that were already online added to the playlist on this channel with rough estimates of when they likely would've aired.
