Monoculture is a practice which means the fish culture of single sex; includes the following criteria-
-More or less fast growing;
-Having more body speed;
-Having upgraded immune system to resist disease;
-High market value;
-Fingerling is available;
-Social acceptance of this fish.

It is not wise to mix carps with monoculture.
Because, fish of monoculture require high protein diet but carps require less protein diet.
