The return of AC cars Railbus W79978 to Cirencester Town Station was quite an achievement and a great stunt. The railbus was on display for the weekend 25th/26th October 2025 only. This event was part of the Cirencester History Festival (running from 24th October to the 2nd november 2025). The cost saving 4 wheel lightweight railbus unfortunately could not make the line finacially viable with the branch to Cirencester closing to passengers on the 6th April 1964 and finally to freight traffic on the 4th October 1965. This video includes the finishing touches to the temporary track being laid and the Railbus being unloaded after arriving on the 24th October. As the vehicle ran down the track off the S J Boyd low loader unfortunately heavy rain also came down. I have included a few of the many historical photos on display and also a model layout of the railway exhibited in the station building plus external and internal views of the railbus (note that the restoration is ongoing although the vehicle is operational) whilst it was on display during Saturday the 25th October.
