Director Hong Khaou talks to Stefan Pape about his 2019 film Monsoon starring Henry Golding. The interview was conducted at the 2019 London Film Festival. The film also stars Parker Sawyers, David Tran, Molly Harris, Lâm Vissay, Nguyen Myan and Edouard Leo.

Plot: MONSOON is a rich and poignant reflection on the struggle for identity in a place where the past weighs heavily on the present. Kit, a British Vietnamese man, returns to Saigon for the first time in over 30 years, after fleeing during the Vietnam-American War.
Kit (Henry Golding, Crazy Rich Asians) returns to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time since he was six years old when his family fled the country in the aftermath of the Vietnam-American war. Struggling to make sense of himself in a city he’s no longer familiar with, he embarks on a personal journey across the country that opens up the possibility for friendship, love and happiness.

Monsoon will be released on the 25th of September 2020.
