I review the 2025 Ram 1500 3L Hurricane Twin Turbo Inline-6 Engine from Stellantis as a Mechanic. I take a deep dive into all the Benefits and Pros of this new Standard Output 3L Hurricane engine. I discuss the advantages of an inline-6 engine design over a V6 like the EcoBoost engines. I give my Opinion on what I like about this new Engine in the Ram 1500 trucks.

Today we are looking at all the positive aspects of this new 3L Hurricane engine in the 2025 RAM 1500 line-ups. First and foremost is the inline-6 engine design.

I think this decision to go with an inline-6 is the best decision they could of made. there are great advantages over a V6 and V8 engine design like the engine naturally being perfectly balanced. secondly is the natural torque generation with the engine having such a long stroke meaning a larger crank throw.

thirdly is the engine knock surpression that a low bore to stroke ratio provides allowing for better fuel economy and better heat management. fourth is the simplcity of the engine only having 1 cylinder head with 2 camshafts and only 1 timing chain.

lastly is the space in the engine to work on these engines. an inline-6 engins is very long so if you can fit it in the engine bay it gives you tons of room on each side to work on. also the intake and exhaust are each on seperate sides making things less complex.

additionally I like the special low temp cooling system for the air to water incooler and the turbos which should help keep them cool and efficient.

the spray on liners are another interesting benefit being that they are much tougher then a traditional Iron liner.

the turbos themselves are a large benefit as well especially when it comes to towing. the 3.5L EcoBoost is the number 1 engine I have towed with thus far and those turbo make these gasoline engine feel like a diesel engine with a trailer behind it.

next is the high pressure fueling system. Stellantis has pumped up the direct fuel injection pressures to north of 5,000 psi making this system more efficient and better are burning fuel completely, resulting in better throttle response and power delivery.

fuel economy should be slighly better but overall as I discuss I think the real benefit is the lower emissions this engine will produce.

lastly is towing. technically this engine does not tow as much as the 5.7L Hemi but when looking at a crew cab 4x4 truck it actually can tow more weight in this configuration.
