In this video, we show how we modified a late-model Dodge diesel fuel tank to fit inside the frame rails of an older Dodge pickup. One of our customers cut off the end of the tank and asked us to patch it. We repaired the tank by fabricating a custom end cap from a polyethylene sheet.

Since the tank did not have an identification symbol, we performed a test weld to confirm it is made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE), a common plastic for fuel tanks due to its chemical resistance to fuels and oils. Because adhesives do not bond well to polyethylene, welding is the best method for repairs.

We then fabricated and welded the polyethylene end cap to seal the tank, completing the modification for the customer.
