Juveniles at the all-male Avon Park Youth Academy wagered the "cup of noodles" soups on a game of five-on-five pick-up basketball. One of the teams was comprised of youth from Orlando, the other of kids from St. Petersburg.

In a show of very unsportsmanlike conduct the St. Petersburg team lost the game, but failed to cough up the noodles. A fight broke out and quickly erupted into a riot.

"This was a full blown riot," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, according to ABC Action News. "I watched them throw objects at us and our deputies. I watched them break windows."

The privately-run facility's unarmed staff were unequipped to respond to riot situation and were quickly evacuated as the situation escalated.

"G4S employees are not allowed to have any specialty equipment," said Carrie Eleazer, the Sheriff's spokeswoman. "To include pepper spray, which would have allowed them to deal with the fight before it escalated into a riot."

The youth caused hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage according to Eleazer. They set ablaze a building holding their records, lit up a dumpster and took control of all staff golf carts.

They rowdy youngsters were eventually subdued almost four hours later when 150 law enforcement officers arrived at the facility.

None of the adolescents made it out of the facility, but eight sustained injuries, one of whom suffered a broken leg.
